IT System Engineer & Integrator (Full-time)

Huntsville, AL

Torch Technologies is currently seeking to fill a position for Information Technology (IT) System Engineer & Integration Support

Selected applicant will become part of an integrated contractor team at the Huntsville Distributed M&S Center (DMIC) supporting high-fidelity/high resolution modeling of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).  The individual will ensure the government’s technical direction is consistently implemented throughout a geographically distributed data center and extended sites.  Some travel is required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as IT System Engineer in supporting the IT Systems Architect and Integration Lead
  • Conduct day-to-day system administration of the hardware and software of the M&S system
  • Ensure consistent technical direction and understanding between government and contractor staff
  • Assist in top level IT architecture trades studies and development
  • Ensure consistent IT architectural, processes and practices are applied across the M&S products
  • Identify and resolve integration of enterprise level system of systems issues
  • Perform integration tasks and coordinate Integration status with Lead Integrator
  • Report IT and integration status to government and program managers
  • Perform other IT and integration duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical discipline and five years of relevant experience
  • Have cyber security qualifications IAW DoD 8570 standards (e.g.  Security+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner) and be able to obtain Computing Environment certifications
  • Professional hands-on experience in design and implementation of the following technologies: Windows/Linux virtualization, Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, storage technologies, Host-Base Security System, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution and other patch management solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud based computing and configuration management using Subversion, Concurrent Version System (CVS) or similar tools
  • Machine virtualization including transitioning legacy products to virtualized products
  • Proficient in hardware/software integration and test (I&T), with previous experience performing I&T within an enterprise system of systems environment
  • Ability to identify and resolve integration issues within a system of systems
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience in developing software tools used to support I&T and integration
  • Proficiency with scripting languages: Bash, AWK, Sed, Perl, Python
  • DoD Top Secret Clearance, SCI Eligible

Additional Desired Skill Sets:

  • Certification as a Security Certified Network Professional
  • Computing Environment Certifications for Windows Server 2008 R2, Linux Red Hat, VMware
  • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) BMDS, MDA Objective Simulation Framework and/or Single Stimulation Framework, Flight Test, and Wargames & Exercise lab assets
  • Ability to develop, and deploy a system of systems architecture
  • MDA Modeling & Simulation experience
  • Advanced degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical field
  • Understanding of C, C++ and/or other programming languages
  • Experience in BMDS domain/concepts and strategies
