The successful candidate will be the software technical focal point for nuclear weapon system surety and nuclear certification studies for the ICBM weapon system in support of government Surety personnel. They will work in a cross-functional team and be responsible for providing guidance on nuclear certification requirements and assessing compliance with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force directives, manuals, and instructions.
Qualified candidates must have knowledge of the Minuteman III weapon system software. Experience with nuclear weapon system surety policy and knowledge of Air Force nuclear certification requirements is highly desired. Applicants should have knowledge of Nuclear Safety Cross-Check Analysis methodologies. Applicants should also be familiar with agile software development techniques and understand the associated vulnerabilities.
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university and 10+ years' experience is required.
Responsibilities include performing detailed surety analyses of new and sustainment software modifications and upgrades; reviewing and providing detailed assessments of Nuclear Certification Impact Statements, Certification Requirement Plans, Nuclear Safety Analysis Reports, Nuclear Surety Evaluation Reports, Nuclear Surety Briefings, Nuclear Certification Plans, Software Certification Plans, Point Papers, and White Papers; and evaluating and recommending mitigations for weapon system vulnerabilities relating to software.
Applicants should have highly developed interpersonal skills permitting productive interaction with technical and non-technical professionals, and must be willing and able to mentor less experienced personnel in software-related areas and matters of nuclear surety/certification. Applicants must also possess the ability to communicate complex ideas orally and in writing.
Position requires candidates be able to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information (An active TOP SECRET clearance is preferred ). Inability to maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
