Human Machine Interface Design Analyst (BMDS Planner) (Full-time)

Huntsville, AL

In anticipation of contract award Torch may have the position(s) of a mid-level systems engineer to support development of better BMDS Software planners. 

The successful applicant will work in a Software Development Lab setting supporting multiple stakeholders. These efforts will include interfacing with multiple stakeholders and the warfighting community to address operational useability as well as verifying operational realism of the software tools.  This will be accomplished through studies to assess integration of various tools, Human Machine Interfaces, wargame and exercise participation, claiming events, and other formal and informal operational assessments. This requires an individual who is a self-starter and able to work alone, as a member of a team, and the ability to lead a mixed contractor team to accomplish their job.  The position requires regular interface with the Government customer and thus requires a highly professional individual.

 Specific responsibilities and experience include:

  • Experience coordinating among other organizations for the accomplishment of multiple organizational objectives is strongly desired.
  • Capability of developing test plans, conducting tests, and documenting the tests in reports for Government leadership’s assessments.
  • Support C2BMC Defense Design Planner Risk Reduction Test Events, demonstrations of in-house software applications, etc. as needed.
  • Familiarity with the Jakob Nielson’s Usability 101: Introduction to Usability work is required. Test results should be granular enough to provide specific knowledge of exactly where the software user interface requires additional attention.
  • Experience with databases for tracking system requirements, issues, software modification requests, warfighter input requests, etc. Work involves setting up the relational database in a way that provides accurate and simplistic ways to determine program status. Information Assurance issues will be addressed with different personnel.
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency’s C2BMC Defense Design Planner 6.4 and 8.2 is desired. Hands on experience with the C2BMC Defense Design Planner is desired. C2BMC training can be provided.
  • Ability to help develop defense designs and create scenarios using the C2BMC Defense Design Planner. Once designs and scenarios are developed, have the ability to execute the analysis such as defended area analyses, scenario analyses, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft products such as MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and MS Project. Knowledge of database administration is required.

Additionally, an understanding of the BMDS, C2BMC Planner, other Missile Defense Planners, SW testing, Verification/Validation and Accreditation, and threat missile systems is highly desired.


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering or Computer Science (preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • A Master’s degree is highly desirable

Position requires that candidate possess a current Secret security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position. Position is located in Huntsville, AL.

This position will require overnight domestic travel and potentially international travel.  It is not anticipated that travel would exceed 25%.
