Torch Technologies is seeking a mid-level to senior-level software engineer to fill an immediate opening in the realm of M&S (modeling and simulation) software development and integration. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related field is required at a minimum. At least six years of experience in a Software Engineer/Developer role using an object oriented language is required. Strong understanding of OOD/OOP and Software Engineering best practices and principles is required. Expertise in the Linux environment is strongly favored. Understanding of C++ or is required. Experience with complex distributed processing systems, multi-processing, and multi-threading is very helpful. Familiarity with the Version Control System Git, continuous integration with Jenkins, and software tracking programs such as “trac” is helpful. Other languages and scripting tools used in this position will include FORTRAN, Python, bash, C, Ada, and Java.
This position supports a multi-disciplinary team composed of government and contractor personnel from multiple organizations. Therefore, written and verbal communications skills are essential. The position will require the ability to work effectively with a team and as an individual performer. Some travel may be required. Position requires that candidate meet the requirement to obtain a final security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position. Those already possessing a SECRET clearance or better will be preferred.
