Systems Administrator (Full-time)

Honolulu, Hawaii

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is currently seeking qualified IT professionals to support USPACOM Exercise execution for the Pacific Warfighting Center in support of the J3.  The Pacific Warfighting Center provides support for USPACOM Joint Exercises for US and Allied warfighter training and readiness. 

This position is in support of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS) All Partners Access Network (APAN) at USPACOM Pacific Warfighting Center (PWC), Ford Island, HI.  Ensures enterprise systems work together, support end-users’ requirements and that they function properly.  Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of operating systems including backup and recovery, software upgrades and user account maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of PWC systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
  • Participate in developing and implementing a cloud infrastructure capability for APAN and/or the PWC.
  • Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure & system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures.
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backup up to media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.  Configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory
  • Knowledge of TCPP/IP networks, routers, switches, & network device monitoring software
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and network access security
  • Knowledge of enterprise backup & disaster recovery processes, procedures, and policies using enterprise backup software utilities
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking using Nortel or Cisco routing and switching equipment
  • Knowledge of Dell EqualLogic storage equipment
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere 5x and 6x
  • Knowledge of Cisco ASA firewall and Iron-port

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline and five (5) years of directly related experience is required. Additional relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 

This position requires that the selected candidate have an active TOP SECRET final security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.

This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Travel will vary, and may be as much as approximately 10%.
