Quality Assurance/Software Tester (Full-time)

Honolulu, Hawaii

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is currently seeking qualified professionals to support USPACOM Exercise execution for the Pacific Warfighting Center in support of the J3.  The Pacific Warfighting Center provides support for USPACOM Joint Exercises for US and Allied warfighter training and readiness. 

This position is in support of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS) All Partners Access Network (APAN) at USPACOM Pacific Warfighting Center, Ford Island Hawaii. The Quality Assurance (QA) / Product Tester works directly with APAN Software Developers, Product Owners and Knowledge Managers on a daily basis. They are responsible for the Quality Assurance of all software developed on APAN and analyzing the impact of changes on current software and functionality of APAN applications. Members will primarily conduct QA and product testing for software releases in Alpha, Beta and Live System Environments. Conducts QA / Product testing on systems; web-based applications, web site stress tests (flow, consistency, proof read content, etc.) host services, terminal applications (POS & devices). 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with Product Owners and Scrum Manager on Software Development teams
  • Work to deadlines; APAN unit tests completed by development freeze date and software ready for client delivery on scheduled release date
  • Read and analyze system specifications and verify/validate the deliverable
  • On a daily basis, review newly developed software, write detailed step by step instructions for the software tests and execute the tests thoroughly
  • Build Tests & Test Scripts; maintain/add to online Regression Test suite and document the tests
  • Read technical logs to investigate and determine bugs and issues and document trouble reports; work with programmers to resolve and test
  • Write structured communications surrounding live system releases
  • Technical writing & documentation to include development of user stories and design requirements
  • Participate in Virtual Project Teams, supporting new product development and Sales Team
  • QA testing for software releases in Alpha, Beta & Live system environments (testing & dev environments
  • QA testing on systems: web-based applications, web site stress tests (flow, consistency, proof read content etc.) host services, terminal applications (POS and devices) 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Relentless attention to detail, accuracy and functionality
  • Practical technical experience with PC's, networked devices, websites (html)
  • 2 years of related experience in the quality assurance and / or product testing field
  • Advanced computer skills in basic applications including MS Project, Excel, Word, Access is desired 

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline and five (5) years of directly related experience is required. Additional relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 

This position requires that the selected candidate have an active final SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.

This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Travel will vary, and may be as much as approximately 10%.
