Operational Employment Systems Engineer (Full-time)

Torch is currently looking to fill the following position:

Operational Employment Systems Engineer

The Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) is managing the Gray Wolf Science and Technology (S& T) Demonstration Program. Gray Wolf is a prototype of an affordable subsonic cruise missile that uses networked collaboration to
perform counter Integrated Air Defense System missions. The program is a spiral development activity demonstrating multiple variants in 18-month spirals. Open architectures, standard interfaces and modular designs will be used for rapid prototyping and spiral capability growth. 


Administer program responsibilities associated with operational employment of the Gray Wolf weapon system, to include development of new Concepts of Operation (CONOPs), Tactics/Techniques/Procedures (TTPs), mission planning constructs and other employment considerations consistent with applicable laws, policy and guidance.
Perform system and subsystem studies regarding operational requirements, capabilities and deliverables. 
Develop and administer a Warfighter Working Group (WWG) that will develop the Gray Wolf CONOPS, TTPs, Rules of Engagement, Measures of Effectiveness and other required components of the operational employment concept. Support development, performance and evaluation of Operational Assessments to evaluate Gray Wolf effectiveness in the selected scenarios.
Facilitate interface and dialogue with operational stakeholders and recommend opportunities to present Gray Wolf information to the warfighter community.
Support the development, implementation and testing of required mission planning and operator interface requirements and capabilities.
Develop program documentation such as cost analyses, acquisition strategies, system requirements/specifications, contract Statements of Objectives and specifications, risk analyses, systems engineering plans, technical design concepts, test plans and methods, and operational employment concepts.
Monitor modeling and simulation activities supporting operational analysis. 
Identify potential problem areas and recommend solutions
Review contractor and subcontractor documentation (system requirements, functional descriptions, drawings, test plans and procedures, architecture design documents and compliance plans, etc), identify potential problem areas and recommend solutions.
Review government and contractor test plans and procedures to evaluate completeness, requirements traceability and compliance with the system requirements, note technical risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate and observe testing at contractor and Government facilities and ranges.
Provide data reduction and analysis support to evaluate contractor compliance with requirements. Review test reports for accuracy and completeness.
Develop and present program briefing slides, letters and reports. Assist and participate in technical working groups, technical reviews, design reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
Attend meetings and transmit recommendations on technical matters and decisions.


A Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline (Masters degree desired ) plus 10 years or relevant weapon system experience required, experience working with munition systems is desired.  In-depth knowledge of and experience with DoD Cybersecurity requirements and practices is required. 

Experience working operational employment aspects of munition weapon systems and
working with warfighter communities is highly desired.

It is anticipated that 6 trips will be required annually.
