Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Full-time)

Eglin AFB, FL

Information Technology (IT) Specialist

This position will support the Air Force Research Laboratory, Munitions Directorate(AFRL/RW) and is resident at Eglin AFB, FL.


-Perform desktop client administration duties for Microsoft Windows 7/10 workstations toinclude Server 2008R2/2012R2.

-Perform ITcustomer support (helpdesk) functions including troubleshooting and ticket resolution.

-Perform basicconfiguration control and installation functions related to adding new clientsto existing networks, including fiber-optic cable installation/termination, inaccordance with local IS and facility security policies.

-Assist inconfiguring computers, installing software, creating and maintaining filesharing capability and electronic mail, and diagnosing hardware and softwareoperational issues to include troubleshooting network problems and implementingpatches and fixes to solve network issues.

-Assist ininstalling and maintaining the Air Force Standard Desktop Configuration acrossmultiple enclave networks/systems.

-Assist inimplementing and maintaining Type 1 encryption devices and associated COMSEChardware in support of secure networking and videoconferencing.

-Assist inhardening Microsoft and Linux operating system workstations and servers.

-Perform security functions such as vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, andcreation of backups for critical data in accordance with JSIG and RiskManagement Framework (RMF).
-Perform Veritas backup and restore for systems and servers.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

A BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field plus 2 years relevant experience (or Associates degree in a related technical field plus 4 years relevant experience or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and significant certified technical training plus 6 years relevant experience )is required. Candidate must possess a current Security+ CE certification sponsored by Computing Technology IndustryAssociation (CompTIA) in compliance with DoD 8570.1-M.  Be able to show progress toward timelycompletion of CE.
Candidate must possess a currently active Top Secret security clearance with a date of investigation within the last five (5) years.

Preferred Skills:

Networkcabling installation & termination (CAT-5/6 & Fiber-optic SC/LCconnectors).

Proficientin client configuration and user account administration.

Experiencewith troubleshooting desktop operating systems and network connectivity issues,as well as application support.

Proficientin hands-on administration of Microsoft Windows-based systems (e.g. grouppolicy, security settings, registry settings, etc.)

Experienceinstalling, configuring, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, andpatching/fixing networks.

Experience with configuring one or more of the following: Microsoft Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System(DNS), and Active Directory; Microsoft Exchange; networking computing systems(hardware and software) over a wide range of network topologies, includingspecial point-to-point, Wide Area, and Local Area; knowledge of network systemsarchitectures and client/server computing modes; information security issues asapplied to maintaining system availability, confidentiality, and dataintegrity.

Beextremely well organized and capable of working in a highly classified/complexcomputer environment.

Able towork well with others.

Able tocommunicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Experiencewith WSUS Server implementation and continuous monitoring of systems andservers.

Experiencewith McAfee EPO server to include definition files deployment for network andstand-alone systems.

Experiencewith SCAP, STIG and vulnerability scanners tools.

Experiencewith NIPRnet and SIRPnet networks.
