Mid-Level Software and Visualization Engineer (Full-time)

Huntsville, AL

Torch Technologies is looking for a mid-level software developer with a passion for visualization and user experience.  We are supporting the development of human-in-the-loop interfaces and models to use in both human factors and decision aids, with the goal of being to facilitate more efficient and effective decision-making.  We will also be collecting data to develop models of human-in-the-loop behaviors.

A qualified candidate will have (a) a Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, mathematics, or other related fields; additionally with at least 8 years of experience in code development, or (b) a related bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience.  Experience with C++, visualization, and software development processes is required.  Experience with Python, Java, NASA Worldwind, Unreal Engine, and/or QT is desired, as is experience with the agile software development process and experience with physics-based modeling.

The ideal candidate would be self-motivated and self-directed.  Primary responsibilities will be to develop flexible user interfaces, which will in turn hook into physics-based modeling and simulation to support human factors and aid decision analysis.  The ideal candidate would also be able to work in a group as well as individually, support a collaborative development environment, and be able to break large and complex tasks into smaller, more manageable efforts.

This position also requires that the candidate meets the requirements to obtain a final security clearance in order to access classified information.  Already having such a clearance is desired.  Inability to obtain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible for this position.
