Cyber Security Analyst (Full-time)

Honolulu, Hawaii

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is currently seeking a qualified Cyber Security Analyst to support USPACOM Exercise execution for the Pacific Warfighting Center in support of the J3. 

The Pacific Warfighting Center provides support for USPACOM Joint Exercises for US and Allied warfighter training and readiness. 

The qualified Cyber Security Analyst will work at the Pacific Warfighting Center, Ford Island, HI in support to the UISS (Enterprise Unclassified Information Sharing Service) & APAN (All Partners Access Network ) Application Service Provider.

The primary responsibility of the Cyber Security Analyst is to research and analyze potential APAN cyber security threats, assessing the APAN application for security gaps & issues and overall software weaknesses. The UISS-APAN Cyber Security Analyst will also be using a Web Application Firewall to prevent, monitor and report suspicious activity within the APAN environment. The UISS-APAN Cyber Security Analyst will work closely with APAN software developers, knowledge managers, help desk and core systems personnel

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support DOD Cybersecurity operations through the analysis of event data and other data sources for indicators of attack and potential application compromise;
  • Produce reports & assist with proactive configurations of Web Application Firewall software.
  • Provide cyber technical assessments, strategy, & recommendations to improve the cyber readiness of the UISS-APAN application(s).
  • Identify relevant UISS-APAN Cyber threats within APAN environments through real time analysis of logs & alerts or data, including IDS/IPS, firewall, and proxy logs files, as needed.
  • Provide analysis during cyber incidents identifying adversarial activity & methods for future detection & prevention
  • Operate intrusion detection or prevention systems and other point of presence security tools (I.e. Akamai Web Application Firewall) WAF.
  • Develop comprehensive Cyber Security Operating Procedures and TTP’s in order to standardize analysis, and remediation techniques.


  • Ability to monitor and analyze logs and alerts from a variety of different technologies, including IDS / IPS, firewall, proxies, and antivirus across multiple platforms
  • Ability to develop specific expertise, discern patterns of complex threat actor behavior, and communicate a comprehension of current and developing Cyber threats
  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, interpreting qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources for the purposes of documenting results and analyzing findings
  • 2+ years of experience in software code development is preferred
  • Prefer experience with learning & configuring complex Web Application Firewall (WAF) operating software. Previous knowledge of Akamai WAF KONA is a definite plus
  • Experience in leveraging all source intelligence analysis or work in intelligence field is desired
  • Experience with Cybersecurity analysis, incident response, or a related field is desired

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline and five (5) years of directly related experience is required. Additional relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 

This position requires that the selected candidate have an active final TOP SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.



This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Travel will vary, and may be as much as approximately 10%.
