Torch Technologies Wins $88.5M SSDD Support Services Task Order

Huntsville, AL (April 16, 2014)

Torch Technologies is pleased to announce it has won the $88,456,182.73 U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command, Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC), System Simulation and Development Directorate (SSDD) for Weapon Systems Development, Analysis and Simulation Support-Tactical Missile Systems. AMRDEC actively adds value to the entire life-cycle decisions for every tactical missile used by the U.S. Army. The joint nature of today’s engagements also requires AMRDEC and SSDD to work across services to ensure interoperability and battlefield effectiveness.

Under this contract, Torch and its 35 company team will provide technical expertise in support of weapon systems development and analysis of tactical missile systems and close-in area defense missile systems. This analysis and support will primarily utilize, but not be limited to, modeling and simulation development, missile component modeling, environmental modeling, simulation execution, Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A), system/subsystem and component testing, target and terrain modeling and signature development, and the latest advancements of scene generation development. Technologies utilized will be complex infrared and semi-active laser imagery, advanced multi-mode radar models, virtual engagement test beds, tactical software in the loop and real/non real-time all-digital simulations.

High fidelity simulation is the tool used throughout the life cycle of most weapon systems from concept definition, design, testing, performance prediction, to product acceptance and system upgrades after fielding. Our goal is to ensure that these simulations are developed, verified, validated, and applied appropriately using acceptable standards to provide our warfighters the best possible system to ensure battlefield effectiveness when it’s needed.

Torch President John Watson stated, "American servicemen and women rely on effective and decisive tactical missiles to achieve their mission and return safely. It is an honor to continue our support of AMRDEC as they ensure tactical missiles meet or exceed their design objectives." CEO Bill Roark added that "Torch is excited to expand our very productive relationship with SSDD in this important mission and we are proud to continue such a long term relationship that benefits our warfighters."
